Love Family Visits

All you faithful followers of our blog may be getting tired of seeing the same pictures/different people posts but we LOVE family visits and we want to share the things we like the most with all of them.  Toby, April, Megan, Max and Sam visited us two weeks ago.  While we usually visit the same places with each one, there are always fun experiences that make each visit special.  This time it was endless beach time (at least once every day), Sam's orange hair (and kisses from the ladies), and people asking if the boys were twins.  (They are 2 1/2 years apart.)

So, the following myriad of photos is from our latest family visit.

How fun is it when your grandkids are anxious to see you.

Our first visit the night they arrived was to try Carmelita's tyludas.  You can see that they enjoyed them.  Tyludas are native to Oaxaca and Hermana Carmelita packs this entire setup into a taxi every evening to sell tyludas and tortas at the beach.

And then Grandpa Bish got to make breakfast for his grandkids the next morning.  Happy man!

We visited Yesénia and her cute boys and Uncle Oskar on our way to the beach.  We took them some sand toys to play with while their mother makes tortillas to sell every morning.

Lots of Beach Time

When you need shade at the beach, it's nice to have a son who's a Boy Scout--until you stay so long that the tide comes in and washes it away!

Building a sand castle takes a lot of hard work hauling water, shoveling, and building--
and then the tide comes in!

We thought maybe Sam had met his match at the beach even though these two couldn't understand a word each other was saying.  But that didn't stop them from quickly becoming friends.

"We promise we won't get wet," were their famous last words!

We went on a boat to see dolphins and do a little fishing.  They caught five smaller fish and you should have seen the three that got away!  (2 mahi-mahi and a sword fish).  But seeing sea turtles and having dolphins play in the waves alongside the boat made it all worth it.  We even saw a whale come out of the water.
And there was time for a quick dip in the ocean.

It's always nice to have a "hot tub" to cool off in after a day in the sun.

Baby Turtles
We had baby turtle time at three different beaches.  On one of the beaches we even found our own babies emerging from the sand.  They are so cute and watching them scurry to the water is delightful.

The Lagoon and Island at Ventanilla Beach
Can you spot the crocodile in the water below?

At the Iguana Reserve

Max thought he was pretty cool holding this bird and Sam thought he was pretty cool with a coconut drink.

The kids always love the Oaxacan cheese, even on pizza.

This is Max and Max. The adult Max owns a breakfast restaurant and he makes the best cream rolls in all the world.

Sam was so excited to finally get to take the garbage to the garbage truck.  He got really good at listening for the clanging of the bell.

At the weekly Friday night branch activity, Elder Matheson had planned some endurance contests.
Megan won this one--standing on one foot with your eyes closed and head back.  Strong core muscles and balance from being a ballerina.
Max is so determined and strong. He outlasted everyone in holding a plank.

Even though these photos make it seem like a vacation, we love sharing our mission with our family by visiting members, attending church activities, and letting them experience some of what we do each day.
